Select Dental Services
When you come in for dental treatment, you want to feel comfortable—and we want you to feel comfortable. We administer a very effective local anesthetic during procedures that involve any level of discomfort requiring sedation. The anesthetized area will stay numb throughout your treatment, so you should experience little to no pain during it. The anesthetic effect will generally wear off within a few hours. We can prescribe medication for subsequent pain if necessary, but you may find that over-the-counter remedies are sufficient.
You already know that a filling is used to restore the mass and strength of a tooth after a cavity. What’s special about the fillings we use—known as composite fillings—is that they take smile esthetics into consideration as well as restore dental function and health. Fillings haven’t traditionally matched the color of the tooth; often they’re made of silver. While silver has a nice shine, it’s not the kind of shine you want for your teeth. We will match the color of our composite fillings to the shade of your tooth enamel, making for a natural, seamless appearance.
Inlays and Onlays
Dental crowns do an excellent job of replacing the entire above-the-gum portion of your tooth in both form and function. The damage you have to a tooth—whether from decay or trauma—may not always be significant enough to warrant a full crown, however. In these cases, we can often use porcelain inlays and onlays instead of resorting to crowns. Inlays cover only a portion of the top and interior of the tooth, while onlays may extend from the top of the tooth to the outer surface. As with composite fillings, we take great care to match the color of the rest of the tooth for a consistent, attractive look.
Teeth Grinding Treatment
When you clench or grind your teeth, whether during sleep or as a result of daytime stress, you can wear down their enamel, cause them to become crooked, and develop temporomandibular joint disorders requiring TMJ treatment. We can minimize the effects of this habit and protect you from developing TMJ issues with custom-fitted mouthguards.
